After several weeks of preparation, more than 20 of our clients recently wowed judges with their very own DE’s Got Talent Show, which featured a variety of acts including drummers, rappers and even dancers!
Our Hub facility was completely transformed to hold the event as clients showed off their talents by performing in front of the local community, their families and staff.
It was a great evening had by all and the eventual winner was Ashley Wilson, who despite having no verbal communication, impressed the audience with an emotional rendition of ‘Let it go’ from Disney’s Frozen. Second prize was awarded to Mikey Jones, who performed a fantastic Roy Orbison drum set. Third place went to Alan Hunter, who along with support from staff member Jennie James, performed a dance routine to Jump the Line by Harry Belafonte.
Our worthy winners were awarded with prize money and a special talent trophy, while all the performers also received a goody bag for their efforts.
Tracey Fletcher, Managing Director at DE Healthcare, said:
“All of our clients are winners in my eyes. They put on an amazing show and events such as this are a great opportunity to showcase the many talents of our clients. Being given the opportunity to not only run a show but perform helps individuals to build on all-important qualities such as learning how to work as part of a team and managing their time.
“The Hub is designed to be a place where people with learning difficulties can gain new experiences and be inspired to learn new skills and interact with others in the community. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for the competition from our clients and staff. Everyone who took part worked really hard to put on a brilliant show and I know that all those who came to watch had a brilliant time.”
